BANNU — In a major relief for the local community, five individuals—including a serving police constable and a high school headmaster—safely returned to their homes on Thursday after being abducted in separate incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district.

The successful recoveries are being widely attributed to the combined diplomatic pressure of local tribal elders, traditional jirgas, and targeted tracking by law enforcement agencies.

Details of the Recovered Individuals

Constable Zareen Khan & Pathona Residents: The constable, who is posted at the Utmankhel Police Station, along with two residents of the Pathona Mamandkhel area, were safely released following intense mediation by a local tribal jirga.

Headmaster Nisar Khan: The head of Government High School Sardar Khan Mandev in Miryan tehsil returned home in good health. He had been forcefully taken from the school premises during working hours on Wednesday by two armed terrorists.

Sathi Khel Resident: A resident of Sathi Khel Sorani, who had been missing for several days after being seized by unidentified armed men, also reunited with his family.

Underlying Security Challenges in Bannu

While the safe return of these citizens has brought temporary calm, the wave of abductions has heightened anxiety across the region. Local tribes are increasingly using traditional jirgas to counter the escalating militancy.
