On Monday, February 23, 2026, top leaders of the opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) staged a sit-in outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The protest, led by Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, centered on a single demand: immediate transparency and specialized medical care for the incarcerated PTI founder, Imran Khan.
15% Vision Left?
The protest was triggered by a startling medical report submitted to the Supreme Court by PTI lawyer Salman Safdar.
- The Diagnosis: Imran Khan is suffering from Right Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO).
- The Claim: Safdar reported that Khan has only 15% vision remaining in his right eye, alleging that authorities ignored blurred vision complaints for three months.
- The Government’s Counter: A medical board from PIMS later claimed Khan’s vision had “significantly improved” from 6/36 to 6/9 after initial treatment. The opposition has dismissed this report as “malicious and manufactured.”
With so much concerns being raised about Imran Khan’s eye issue everywhere especially at the level of Apex court of the country, It’s strange the government has taken so long to take the critical decision of shifting him to hospital.

Key Demands from the SC Protest
Opposition leaders sat on the Supreme Court lawn until 2:00 PM, issuing the following demands:
- Transfer to Shifa: Immediate relocation of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
- Personal Physicians: Unrestricted access for his personal doctors, Dr. Asim and Dr. Faisal, to conduct independent blood tests and scans.
- Family Meetings: An end to the “illegal blockade” preventing his sisters and family from visiting him at Adiala Jail.
- Case Scheduling: The immediate fixing of all pending appeals against his convictions in the £190 million and Toshakhana cases.

The Government’s “Injection” Timeline
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry attempted to de-escalate the situation by announcing a formal treatment schedule:
- Wednesday, Feb 25: Imran Khan is scheduled to be moved to a hospital (likely Al-Shifa Eye Trust or PIMS) to receive a critical medical injection for his eye condition.
- Security vs. Transparency: The government maintains that treatment is being provided “in secrecy” solely due to high security threats, while the PTI calls this secrecy a “cover for neglect.”
A “Deal” on the Table?
In a surprising turn during the Senate session, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas offered an olive branch to the ruling coalition:
“You fix things with the PTI founder. I promise I will not let your government fall.”
This suggests that while the protest was about health, the opposition is leveraging the humanitarian crisis to push for broader political reconciliation during the holy month of Ramadan.
