Ishaq Dar Heads to Brussels After SCO Summit for High-Level Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue

Islamabad: November 19, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has left Moscow for Brussels on a crucial three-day official visit to co-chair the seventh Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue, the Foreign Office announced on Wednesday.

Dar, who led Pakistan’s delegation at the 24th SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in Russia, will hold talks with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas from November 19 to 21.

The dialogue – the highest institutional platform between Pakistan and the 27-nation bloc – will comprehensively review progress under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan 2019, covering trade, security, climate change, migration, and people-to-people contacts.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister will also participate in the fourth EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and hold several bilateral meetings with senior EU officials.

The Foreign Office described the trip as a “significant milestone” in deepening Pakistan-EU ties, reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to a broad-based and mutually beneficial partnership.

Before departing Moscow, Dar expressed gratitude to Russian authorities for the successful hosting of the SCO summit and held fruitful sideline meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and leaders from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, regional connectivity, and enhanced cooperation within the SCO framework. Pakistan’s active diplomacy at both the SCO and the EU platforms underscores its growing role in regional and global affairs.
