KARACHI — In one of the most significant maritime interceptions in recent months, a joint task force led by the Sindh Excise and Narcotics Control Wing, Naval Intelligence, and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has seized over half a ton of high-grade crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘Ice’). The operation, conducted in the Arabian Sea, also netted 3,000 bottles of premium foreign whiskey, with the total haul estimated to be worth billions of rupees on the international market.

A Victory for Inter-Agency Coordination
Sindh Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla hailed the operation as a “textbook example” of effective joint action against organized crime. By pooling resources from the Excise Department, the Navy, and the PMSA, authorities were able to intercept the smuggling vessel before it could offload its lethal cargo into the streets of Karachi.
“We have initiated a deep-dive investigation to identify the local supporters and financial backers of this network,” Minister Chawla stated. The move is seen as part of a broader crackdown on narcotics that have seen a surge in the southern districts of Sindh over the past year.
