LAHORE: A judicial magistrate in Lahore on Friday extended the physical remand of six officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for another three days in connection with a corruption and extortion case involving alleged misuse of authority and acceptance of bribes.
The case was registered with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle on the complaint of Aroob Jatoi, the wife of YouTuber Saadur Rehman—popularly known as Ducky Bhai—who is currently under arrest for allegedly promoting gambling applications on social media.
The FIR named nine individuals, including eight NCCIA officers. Those in custody include Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry, Deputy Director (acting in-charge) Zawar Ahmad, Assistant Directors Shoaib Riaz and Mujtaba Zafar, and Sub-Inspectors Ali Raza and Yasir Ramzan. The six were presented before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo after reportedly remaining missing for several days before their arrest was announced on Monday.

The FIA’s investigating officer requested an 11-day extension to complete the probe, but the court granted three days, directing the suspects to appear again on Monday. The court order noted that substantial sums had already been recovered from the accused, and further investigation was warranted.
According to the FIR, Assistant Director Shoaib Riaz allegedly extorted Rs9 million from Rehman’s family under the pretext of providing relief during his detention, using intermediaries to collect cash and cheques. It also alleged that Riaz transferred $326,420 from Rehman’s cryptocurrency account via Binance and distributed portions of the extorted amount among other NCCIA officials, including senior officers in Lahore and Islamabad.

The complaint further accused the group of operating a bribery network that accepted regular payments from online fraud operators and call centres in exchange for protection.
The FIA has booked the suspects under Sections 109 and 161 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. FIA Assistant Director Syed Zainul Abideen is leading the investigation.
