LAKKI MARWAT — A series of alarming incidents involving heavy weaponry, targeted killing, and house robberies occurred across Lakki Marwat on Saturday night and Sunday (February 7–8, 2026), leaving the district in a state of high tension.
1. Mortar Attack Near Tajazai
Late Saturday night, a mortar shell fired from an undisclosed location landed in the fields near the Tajazai area.
- Impact: The shell exploded near a Government Higher Secondary School, causing widespread panic among residents.
- Casualties: Fortunately, no loss of life was reported.
- Police Action: A contingent from the Ghaznikhel police station arrived at the site shortly after the blast and conducted a search operation in the surrounding fields, though the “miscreants” responsible remain unidentified.
2. Brutal Murder and Desecration in Mangala Sra Darga
On Sunday, a 41-year-old man, identified as Muhammad Younas, was kidnapped, shot, and his body subsequently torched.
- The Victim: Younas, a resident of Bannu who had settled in Lakki Marwat, was reportedly abducted while working in the fields.
- Motive: Preliminary reports from the victim’s brother, Rahaqullah, suggest the family was embroiled in a local enmity, which may have led to the targeted assault.
- Investigation: The Serai Gambila police have registered a case against the unidentified attackers. The body was moved to the THQ Hospital in Serai Naurang for post-mortem.
3. Armed Robbery by Proclaimed Offender in Chuharkhel
In a separate midnight raid, a known criminal along with his accomplices looted a residence in the Chuharkhel area.
- The Incident: The suspects, led by a proclaimed offender (PO) named Tahir, forced their way into a home by posing as members of a banned militant outfit (TTP).
- The Loot: The group ransacked the house, stealing cash, gold ornaments, and mobile phones.
- Violence: Before fleeing, the PO shot and injured the homeowner, Habibur Rehman, when he resisted the robbery. Police are currently conducting raids to apprehend Tahir and his associates.
