ISLAMABAD, Sept 12 — Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Senator Musadik Malik, announced Thursday that the government is preparing a 300-day climate action plan to counter the escalating threats from climate change, including risks from monsoon rains and glacial melting.

Climate Action Plan in the Making
Speaking at a press conference alongside NDMA Chairman Lt General Inam Haider Malik, the minister said the action plan will be finalised within a month through joint efforts of the federal government, provinces, armed forces, NGOs, and welfare organisations.
“We must act with our own resources, supported by civil administration, welfare institutions, and armed forces to safeguard our children and communities,” Malik stressed.
He underlined that the plan is preventive, designed to minimise losses from next year’s floods and glacial melt, adding: “The entire world is changing, and all nations must wake up to this reality.”
Relief and Evacuations Across Punjab & Sindh
Updating on flood response, Malik revealed that more than 2.5 million people have been evacuated to safer areas in Punjab. Two major flood waves have already been tracked across Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Shahdara, Jhang, and Sargodha, with one wave now nearing Head Punjnad.

- Over 30,000 tents, ration kits, and boats are being distributed.

In Sindh, relief operations have gained pace, with 150,000 people relocated so far. NDMA noted unprecedented volunteer involvement in helping displaced communities.
Looking Ahead
The minister assured that the climate action plan will focus on preparedness and resilience to avoid repeat devastation.
“We pray no such disaster comes again, but if it does, Pakistan will face it united — with preparation, resilience, and faith,” Malik concluded.
