New York, United States — Pakistan delivered a strong and principled rebuttal at the United Nations Security Council on March 9, 2026, firmly rejecting India’s baseless criticism of its counter-terrorism operations along the Afghan border and exposing New Delhi’s long-standing role in sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan from Afghan soil.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, took the floor after India’s envoy accused Islamabad of violating international law, turning the debate into a clear diplomatic victory for Pakistan. The Pakistani envoy not only defended the country’s legitimate right to self-defence but also highlighted India’s complicity in backing groups like the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
This assertive stance at the world’s highest security forum once again demonstrated Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism while promoting peace and stability in the region.
One can sense India’s pain in seeing its heavy investment in the Afghan terrorist franchise going to waste as a result of Pakistan’s precise and effective action against terrorist camps and support bases inside Afghanistan. And the world needs no lectures from a serial violator… pic.twitter.com/4u7PLaMV3q

Debunking Indian Propaganda
Pakistan’s diplomatic offensive at the UNSC marked a significant moment in the ongoing Pak-Afghan tensions. For years, Islamabad has provided irrefutable evidence to the international community about India’s collusion with terrorist networks based in Afghanistan. Ambassador Ahmad made this point crystal clear when he told the Council that India’s heavy investment in the Afghan terrorist franchise was now crumbling because of Pakistan’s precise and effective actions against terrorist camps and support bases.
The Pakistani envoy did not mince words. He described India as a serial violator of international law that has illegally occupied territory, violated UN resolutions, perpetrated state terrorism in India-occupied Kashmir, and even weaponised water to harm Pakistan’s people. “And the list goes on,” he added with measured firmness. This direct and evidence-based response effectively snubbed India’s attempt to paint Pakistan as the aggressor and instead shifted the spotlight onto New Delhi’s own destabilising role in the region.

Rebutting Afghanistan’s False Narrative
Ambassador Ahmad also took strong exception to remarks by the Afghan mission’s Chargé d’affaires, Naseer Ahmad Faiq, who is not recognised by the Taliban authorities. He pointed out that Faiq, “sequestered in New York and completely cut off from ground realities,” had chosen to ignore the real threat of cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan that continues to claim Pakistani lives, including soldiers and civilians. This firm rebuttal underscored Pakistan’s position that it is not against the brotherly people of Afghanistan but is only targeting terrorist hideouts that threaten its security.
In a powerful closing message, Ambassador Ahmad reminded the Council that while India has consistently played the role of a spoiler in Afghanistan, Pakistan has always engaged responsibly to promote peace, stability, and prosperity. He urged the Afghan Taliban regime to fulfil its commitments on counter-terrorism, inclusive governance, and the rights of Afghan women and girls. At the same time, he made it clear that Pakistan will never allow any sabotage or subversion from Afghan soil to harm its people.
This diplomatic triumph at the UNSC reflects Pakistan’s consistent and mature approach to regional challenges. Instead of escalating rhetoric, Islamabad has chosen the platform of the United Nations to present facts, expose state-sponsored terrorism, and call for genuine dialogue. The country’s armed forces continue to conduct precise operations under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq to neutralise threats, while its diplomats work tirelessly at the global level to defend national interests and build international understanding.
