On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the ICC officially reprimanded Pakistan opening batter Sidra Amin for a code of conduct violation during the first ODI against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
The Incident: A “Bat-Slam” Flashpoint
The incident occurred during the 24th over of Pakistan’s run chase on Sunday, February 22.
- The Offense: After being dismissed for a gritty 68 off 69 balls, Amin slammed her bat into the ground in frustration before leaving the crease.
- The Rule: She was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

Disciplinary Record & Penalty
Because this was a Level 1 breach, the following sanctions were applied:
- Official Reprimand: A formal warning was issued to her record.
- Demerit Point: One demerit point was added to her disciplinary record.
- Tally: This is Amin’s second offense in a 24-month window. Her first demerit point was received during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match against India on October 5, 2025, bringing her current total to two points.
Match Context: A Record Stand in Vain
Despite the disciplinary setback, Sidra Amin’s performance on the field was a highlight of the match:
- Record Partnership: Amin and Ayesha Zafar (81) stitched together a 126-run partnership for the third wicket—a new record for Pakistan against South Africa in WODIs.

Milestone Achieved
While the reprimand is a blemish, the Bloemfontein match also marked a significant milestone for the 33-year-old veteran. Sidra Amin recently became only the third Pakistani woman to surpass 2,000 career ODI runs, joining the elite company of Bismah Maroof and Javeria Khan.
