ISLAMABAD – Pakistan wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz has been named in the ICC Women’s World Cup Team of the Tournament, becoming the only player from a non–semi-finalist team to make the elite XI.
Hosts India lifted their first-ever Women’s World Cup trophy on Sunday, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final. Both sides contributed three players each to the Team of the Tournament, with Australia also having three representatives, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Nat Sciver-Brunt rounded out the lineup.
Despite Pakistan’s early exit, Sidra’s exceptional wicketkeeping performances earned her a spot among the world’s best. She finished the tournament with the most dismissals, excelling behind the stumps with four stumpings, two of which came against Australia. One — the dismissal of Kim Garth off Diana Baig’s bowling — was described by the ICC as “arguably the best of the tournament.”

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt, who amassed a record-breaking 571 runs at an average of 71.37, was named captain of the Team of the Tournament. She was joined by teammates Marizanne Kapp and Nadine de Klerk, both praised for their consistency and all-round impact.
India’s Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma also made the cut, with Sharma earning the Player of the Tournament title after topping the wicket charts and scoring vital runs, including a five-wicket haul and half-century in the final.
From Australia, Annabel Sutherland, Alana King, and Ash Gardner were honoured for their dominant all-round performances, with King’s 7/18 against South Africa hailed as one of the greatest bowling spells in World Cup history.

England’s Sophie Ecclestone, the world’s No. 1 ranked ODI bowler, completed the XI with 16 wickets from seven matches, while teammate Nat Sciver-Brunt was named the 12th player.
Sidra’s inclusion marks a proud moment for Pakistan cricket, highlighting her as one of the world’s top wicketkeepers in a fiercely competitive global event.
