ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday categorically dismissed speculation regarding a possible change in the Balochistan CM, describing reports of CM Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti’s replacement as “baseless and unfounded”.
Speaking after a meeting with CM Bugti at Parliament House, the speaker said the federal government stood firmly behind the provincial leadership. The meeting focused on reviewing key political, social and development matters facing Balochistan, with both leaders emphasising the need for stronger coordination between the federation and the province.
Mr Sadiq said ongoing mega development projects were a positive sign for a region that has long struggled with insecurity, economic disparities and infrastructural gaps. He noted that addressing the grievances of the Baloch people remained a top priority, adding that improved cooperation between provincial and federal institutions would help accelerate progress on multiple fronts.
“The progress of Pakistan is directly linked with the progress of Balochistan,” he said, assuring Chief Minister Bugti of full support from the National Assembly and reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people of the province.
