LAHORE — The Lahore police have arrested Salman Qadir, the son of the late legendary Pakistani leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, following allegations of sexual assault filed by a 21-year-old domestic worker. The arrest was made by the Barki Police on the instructions of SP Cantt Akhlaqullah Tarar, following an immediate 15 emergency call.
The Salman Qadir Case
- Accused: Salman Qadir (former first-class cricketer and son of the late Abdul Qadir).
- Charges: Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for rape (Zina-bil-jabr).
- Location: A private farmhouse near Newas Barki, Lahore.

Abduction and Assault Allegations
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Barki Police Station, the victim alleged that Salman Qadir called her on January 22, 2026, requesting her to arrive early for cleaning work the following morning.
- The Ambush: On January 23, the victim arrived at the main gate of Green City. She alleges that Salman Qadir forced her into his car and drove her to his Farmhouse No. 2, located near the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy.
- The Assault: The complainant stated that once at the farmhouse, the accused forcibly molested and raped her.
- Police Action: Following the report, SHO Barki Imran Nawaz conducted a swift raid and took Qadir into custody.
Impact on the Qadir Family Legacy
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the cricketing community, as the late Abdul Qadir (who passed away in 2019) is revered as one of the greatest wrist-spinners in history and is a member of the ICC Hall of Fame.
Salman Qadir, 41, is himself a former first-class cricketer who played 26 matches between 2005 and 2013. He currently manages the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in Lahore. The allegations have raised significant concern among parents whose children are enrolled at the academy, leading to questions regarding the safety of the facility.
