ISLAMABAD: In a major step toward digital self-reliance, the Fauji Foundation has unveiled Sky47 Cloud and AI — billed as the country’s largest locally hosted cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure — offering secure, Pakistan-based data storage and computing power that could reduce reliance on foreign servers for government, businesses, and critical sectors.

The platform was inaugurated on Thursday by Fauji Foundation Chairman, retired Lt Gen Anwar Ali Hyder. Officials described Sky47 as a game-changer for national digital needs, with more than 3,000 server racks, up to 50MW power capacity, and advanced features like liquid cooling to handle high-density AI and machine learning workloads.

Key Highlights

  • Sky47: Pakistan’s largest operational cloud and AI platform, built as a sovereign, locally hosted solution.
  • Infrastructure: Over 3,000 racks, 50MW power capacity, modular design for future expansion.
  • Capabilities: Enterprise-grade services for secure data storage, scalable computing, AI/ML support; meets international security and compliance standards.
  • Target users: Government institutions, banks, telecoms, healthcare, and AI-driven businesses needing mission-critical, in-country hosting.
  • Vision: Strengthen Pakistan’s technological and economic independence by keeping sensitive data within national borders.
  • CEO Hassan Abbas: Platform addresses urgent national demand for reliable, local cloud and AI services to build a strong digital economy.

Retired Lt Gen Hyder emphasized that robust digital infrastructure is now essential for national progress. Sky47, he said, aims to provide long-term, trustworthy hosting that keeps sensitive information secure inside Pakistan while supporting innovation and growth across key industries.

Boost for National Digital Security and Economy

For ordinary Pakistanis, this launch means better protection of personal and national data — from government records and banking details to healthcare information — by keeping it on home soil rather than overseas servers. It also opens doors for faster, more reliable AI tools in everyday services like online banking, telemedicine, and smart government apps.

The platform’s sovereign design addresses growing concerns over data sovereignty, cybersecurity threats, and compliance with local laws. By offering scalable, high-performance cloud services, Sky47 could attract both domestic enterprises and international hyperscalers looking for secure regional hubs.

A Foundation for the Future

With Pakistan’s digital economy expanding rapidly, Sky47 positions the country to leap forward in technology adoption. Fauji Foundation officials stressed the long-term vision: a foundational layer that supports everything from e-governance to AI innovation, all while prioritizing security and reliability for the nation’s institutions and people.

This initiative reflects a clear commitment to building homegrown digital strength — a move that promises greater control over data, enhanced privacy, and a more resilient tech ecosystem for generations to come.
