The Ministry of Finance confirmed the development through an official social media post, noting that the meeting marks the start of high-level review sessions. The agenda centers on progress in technical talks and outlining Pakistan’s fiscal roadmap to maintain stability.
The IMF mission is led by Ms. Iva Petrova, with IMF Resident Representative Mahir Binici earlier confirming that the delegation would review progress under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
Revenue and Fiscal Briefings
Last week, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) updated the IMF technical team on revenue data as part of preliminary meetings. During today’s session, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial provided a detailed briefing on revenue collection performance in the current fiscal year.
Sources confirmed that the delegation discussed progress toward revenue targets and examined potential tax shortfalls in the first quarter. It was also highlighted that recent floods had negatively impacted tax collection efforts, creating additional fiscal challenges for the government.
