ATC Sentences 47 PTI Leaders to 10 Years in May 9 GHQ Attack Case

Rawalpindi, Pakistan — An anti-terrorism court sentenced 47 PTI leaders and supporters, including prominent figures like Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, Hammad Azhar, and Murad Saeed, to 10 years in prison each on March 7, 2026, in the May 9 GHQ attack case.

District and Sessions Judge Amjad Ali Shah, presiding over ATC No. 1, delivered the detailed 16-page verdict after finding the accused guilty of planning and executing attacks on military installations, including GHQ Gate No. 1, Hamza Camp, the Army Museum, and Sixth Road Metro Station.

The court also imposed a Rs500,000 fine on each convict and ordered confiscation of their property. The convicts were tried in absentia as proclaimed offenders under Section 21L of the Anti-Terrorism Act after they failed to appear despite repeated notices.
