LAKKI MARWAT (April 20, 2026) — A high-profile terrorist commander was among two militants killed during a targeted police operation in the Khundan forest area of Lakki Marwat on Monday. The encounter also resulted in the martyrdom of a police constable, according to district law enforcement officials.

Neutralizing a “Most Wanted” commander
District police spokesperson Qudratullah Khan confirmed that the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the presence of Fitna-al-Khawarij (TTP) militants near the Bannu border. One of the deceased, Commander Amir Sohail, was a priority target for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), wanted for a string of target killings, bomb blasts, and direct attacks on security forces.
Ongoing Search and Tributes
A heavy contingent of police and CTD commandos, supported by Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), has cordoned off the Khundan forest to track the fleeing militants. Meanwhile, the funeral of Constable Attiqur Rehman was held with full official honors at Police Lines. DPO Nazeer Khan paid tribute to the fallen officer, stating that his sacrifice serves as a “supreme example of devotion to duty and patriotism.”
Sechool attacked in Mohmand
In a related development, unknown assailants targeted the Ghazi Baig Mohmand Model School with a hand grenade in Mohmand district. While the explosion caused significant panic among residents, no lives were lost. Police have initiated a multi-angled investigation to identify the perpetrators behind the school attack.
