Major Roads Blocked as TTAP, PTI Protests Continue

Feb 14, 2026 | Current Affairs

Islamabad — Several important highways, intercity routes, and city roads remain closed or restricted on February 14, 2026, due to ongoing protests and sit-ins by opposition groups, leading to heavy traffic jams, long delays, and difficulties for commuters, emergency services, and daily travel.

The Red Zone in Islamabad has been sealed since Friday, with Constitution Avenue, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, and all approaches to Parliament House and D-Chowk blocked by containers and police barriers. Only Margalla Road is partially open, with vehicles facing searches before proceeding.

Key Routes Affected

  • Islamabad: Red Zone fully closed; Constitution Avenue and Parliament House approaches blocked.
  • Rawalpindi: Murree Road and Faizabad Interchange restricted; traffic diverted.
  • Lahore: Mall Road and key entry points to Liberty Chowk partially obstructed.
  • Karachi: Shahrah-e-Faisal and areas near Clifton and Defence affected.
  • Peshawar: GT Road near Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House disrupted.
  • Other cities: Intercity highways and ring roads blocked at protest locations.

Police have deployed contingents at major sites to manage crowds and allow passage for emergency vehicles where possible. Authorities state that routes will remain secured until the situation improves.

The restrictions are linked to the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) sit-in outside Parliament, now in its second day, over PTI founder Imran Khan’s health and detention conditions. No timeline for reopening has been announced.

These blockades have disrupted normal movement for citizens across the country, highlighting the impact of protests on daily life and essential services.
