JI Leader Warns of Worsening Wheat Flour Crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Peshawar – January 19, 2026 – Jamaat-i-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North chief Inayatullah Khan has warned that the flour crisis in the province is deteriorating rapidly, with prices climbing almost daily and causing severe hardships for residents.
Speaking to reporters in Lower Dir after congratulating the newly-elected cabinet of the Timergara Press Club, Mr. Khan urged both the federal and provincial governments to take immediate steps to prevent the situation from spiraling further out of control.

Mr. Khan alleged that the restrictions and alleged corrupt practices at checkpoints like Attock are disrupting supply chains, leading to artificial shortages and inflated prices in northern districts. He emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as an integral part of Pakistan, deserves equitable treatment to ensure affordable essentials for its people.

On security matters, the JI leader stressed that ongoing military operations in various parts of the province are exacerbating unrest and socioeconomic challenges. He advocated upgrading the capacity of police and civilian institutions to address terrorism, rather than relying on force. In the merged districts, he reiterated the party’s principled stance for resolving law and order issues through peaceful dialogue.
Mr. Khan expressed sympathies with the family of Maulana Wahid Gul following the bombing and demanded swift arrests of those responsible, describing such acts as attempts to silence voices of peace.
Observers note that the flour price surge in KP reflects broader supply chain vulnerabilities, amid calls for coordinated action to stabilize markets and protect consumers. The authorities must act promptly to restore fair access to this staple commodity across the province.
