Bannu: Havaldar Martyred, Four Children Injured in Twin Attacks by Fitnat al-Khawarij

BANNU, October 13, 2025A havaldar of the security forces was martyred and a soldier injured on Sunday in a deadly attack by militants identified as Fitnat al-Khawarij on a joint convoy of police and security personnel in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During a search operation, the incident occurred near Baran Shah Bridge on Miran Shah Road. According to Bannu Police spokesperson Kashif Nawaz Khan, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the road exploded as the convoy was passing, followed by a coordinated armed assault using heavy weaponry.

As a result, Havaldar Dost Muhammad Khan was martyred, while Sepoy Shamim Khan sustained injuries. The police and military personnel retaliated strongly, forcing the attackers to flee toward the surrounding mountainous areas. A search operation was launched to track down the fleeing terrorists.

In a separate and equally alarming incident, a terrorist-operated quadcopter targeted a residential home in the Khudri Mamand Khel area of Bannu. The drone attack injured four children belonging to the same family.

The injured, Mamoon, Masoom, Salman, and Mehman, aged between 8 and 13, were taken to District Headquarters Hospital, where their condition is stable.

These twin incidents highlight the growing threat posed by militants operating under the banner of Fitnat al-Khawarij, who continue to target both security forces and civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Security forces have reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate terrorism and protect citizens from further harm.
