Manama – October 27: Pakistan continued their dominant run at the ongoing Asian Youth Games, defeating China in straight sets to secure a place in the semi-finals of the boys’ volleyball competition on Sunday.
The Green Shirts outclassed their Chinese counterparts in just 53 minutes at Isa Sports City, sealing the quarter-final victory 25-12, 25-13, 25-17. The result maintained Pakistan’s unbeaten record in the tournament and underlined their growing momentum heading into the final stages.
Earlier in the competition, Pakistan opened their campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Mongolia, followed by another straight-sets victory against hosts Bahrain in Group ‘A’. In the classification round, the team brushed aside Uzbekistan 3-0 before edging Saudi Arabia 3-1 in a hard-fought contest, clinching the match with scores of 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, and 26-24.

Key players Khizar Hayat, Mohammad Yahya, and Mohammad Anas produced standout performances throughout the tournament, with the trio once again instrumental in Pakistan’s convincing win against China.
Pakistan will now face their semi-final opponents on Monday (October 27) at 9 p.m. local time (11 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time) as they aim for a place in the final.
The country’s 53-member contingent is competing across multiple sports at the Asian Youth Games, which run from October 22 to 31. Pakistan has already secured its first medal of the event — a bronze in the boys’ kabaddi competition.
In a post on social media, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation hailed the team’s performance, calling it a “proud achievement.” It credited Pakistan Sports Board Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada for his role in organising a comprehensive national training camp ahead of the tournament, which the federation said had been crucial to the team’s success.
