FIA, Police Foil Illegal Migration Attempt; 29 Afghan Nationals Among 50 Arrested

GWADAR – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and local police have arrested 50 individuals, including 29 Afghan nationals and their families, in two separate operations aimed at preventing illegal border crossings into Iran, officials said on Monday.

According to police sources, Turbat police intercepted two vehicles at a checkpoint in Kech district and detained 29 Afghan citizens, including 12 men, four women, and 13 children. SSP Kech Zohaib Mohsin said the detainees were attempting to enter Iran without valid travel documents, allegedly planning to continue their journey onward to Turkey and Europe through human smuggling networks.

The Afghan nationals were handed over to the FIA for further investigation, while the drivers of the vehicles were also taken into custody for their suspected involvement in facilitating the illegal migration.

In a separate operation, the FIA’s Composite Circle in Gwadar apprehended 21 individuals in the Jiwani coastal area as they prepared to leave for Iran by sea. Authorities said the suspects were residents of various districts in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Nowshera, and Toba Tek Singh.

Officials said the group had planned to reach Iran illegally before travelling onward to Europe through established human trafficking routes. Boats and other equipment used for the attempted crossing were seized during the operation.
