Karachi — The Board of Directors of K-Electric (KE) has appointed Adeeb Ahmad as Interim Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, replacing Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, who resigned last week.
The decision was taken during a board meeting on February 13, 2026, following Alvi’s resignation announced on February 6 via a Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) filing.

Adeeb Ahmad has over three decades of senior leadership experience, including C-suite roles across energy, infrastructure, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and transformation projects in the MENA region, Turkey, CIS, Southeast Asia, and Pakistan.
He has led investment banking assignments in the GCC and Pakistan, focusing on M&A, privatisation, and capital raising. Most recently, he served as CEO of Hascol Petroleum Limited. Prior to that, he was Senior Advisor to the CEO and Deputy CEO-Designate at the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) in Saudi Arabia.
Ahmad holds an MSc from the London School of Economics (LSE), UK, and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for K-Electric as the utility continues to navigate operational, regulatory, and investment challenges while serving millions of consumers in Karachi and surrounding areas. The company has not announced a timeline for appointing a permanent CEO.
This transition follows Alvi’s resignation after leading KE through significant reforms and expansion efforts. The board expressed confidence in Ahmad’s extensive expertise to ensure continuity and strategic direction during the interim period.
