Strengthening Pakistan-US Engagement

The Prime Minister’s bilateral meeting with President Trump at the Oval Office was held behind closed doors but was described by both sides as productive. Shehbaz said Washington had shown readiness to share expertise in emerging technologies and to explore investment avenues in Pakistan’s economy.

During his UNGA address, PM Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace, regional stability, and global cooperation, while strongly raising the issues of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine. He condemned the killings in Gaza, where over 64,000 people have lost their lives, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for oppressed communities.

Recognition of Pakistan’s Progress

In London, Shehbaz interacted with delegations of overseas Pakistanis at the Pakistan High Commission, emphasizing that Pakistan was “making rapid progress” on the economic, foreign policy, and defense fronts. He said recent stability was the result of sincere effort, teamwork, and dedication.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar lauded the Prime Minister’s effective representation at UNGA, noting that Pakistan held around two dozen bilateral meetings during the session, consistently advocating for Kashmir, Gaza, and Palestine. Dar also credited the government’s reforms with lowering inflation and interest rates, helping to strengthen growth and reduce poverty.

Dignity, Defense, and Dialogue

PM Shehbaz also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, noting their decisive response to Indian aggression in May. He told the UNGA that Pakistan had acted in self-defense, downing seven Indian aircraft in line with the UN Charter, while still extending an offer of dialogue for lasting peace in South Asia.

“Pakistan has regained dignity and respect in the comity of nations,” Shehbaz told overseas communities in London. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Indus Waters Treaty and warned that any violation would be considered an “act of war.”
