Bahawalpur, Pakistan — Twenty-six passengers, including one in critical condition, were injured when seven coaches of the Karachi-bound Tezgam Express derailed near Adam Wahan Railway Station on the Bahawalpur-Lodhran section late Tuesday night, March 24, 2026.

Eyewitnesses claimed the derailment occurred when couplers between bogies broke, splitting the train into two parts. The driver, Tariq Khan, said he felt a sudden drop in load and could not immediately understand what had happened. Lodhran Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hafiz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Liaquat Gilani, and senior police officials reached the site promptly to oversee the rescue operation. Hospital wards with a capacity of 35 beds were reserved for the victims, and nine injured passengers, including a woman, were admitted for treatment.
