In Bannu, an IED planted on a motorcycle outside shops near the Miryan police station detonated with a loud explosion, killing two people — including a Hafiz-i-Quran boy — and wounding 17 others. The injured and deceased were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital and Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital, confirmed Medical Teaching Institution spokesperson Muhammad Noman.
Bomb disposal experts determined that seven to eight kilograms of explosive material were used. Police and security forces immediately cordoned off the site, collected evidence, and initiated a search operation.
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Faheem Khan, ANP Senator Haji Baaz Muhammad Khan Advocate, Dr Pir Sahib Zaman, PTI district president Haji Gul Baaz Khan, and other leaders visited the hospitals to inquire about the injured.
These incidents highlight the persistent security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with law enforcement agencies continuing operations to counter militant threats and maintain public safety.
