A Close Look at Local Production Capabilities
According to ISPR, Munir received a detailed briefing on various aspects of POF’s operations during the visit. Officials walked him through the factory’s role in strengthening national defense through the indigenous development and production of a wide range of military equipment.
Munir also witnessed live tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. ISPR said this part of the visit highlighted POF’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance, and expanding Pakistan’s defense production capabilities from within the country rather than relying on imports.
Corporatization and New Industrial Plants in the Pipeline
Officials also briefed Munir on the progress of POF’s corporatization process, which followed the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance. This restructuring effort is meant to modernize how the factory operates and manages its production going forward.
In addition to the corporatization update, Munir was also informed about the indigenization and upgrade activities being carried out at the facility. Two new industrial plants are now being installed and are expected by officials to go on stream before the end of this year. Once operational, these plants are expected to increase POF’s manufacturing capacity.
The ISPR concluded its statement by saying the visit reflected the military’s broader resolve toward self-reliance, local production, and technological innovation in the country’s defense sector. The visit is part of a pattern of Pakistan’s leadership regularly highlighting local defense manufacturing capacity, especially as the country continues to look to expand its defense exports alongside meeting domestic military needs.
