Patient in Critical Condition After Alleged Suicide Attempt at LGH

LAHORE — A 25-year-old woman is fighting for her life at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of the hospital building on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

The patient, a resident of Abbottabad identified as ‘A’, was under treatment for mental health issues at the time of the incident.

Incident Details

According to hospital management and local sources:

  • Background: The patient was brought to LGH on Tuesday by her brother after allegedly consuming an excessive quantity of tranquilizers. She was initially stabilized in the emergency department and later moved to a ward for observation.
  • The Fall: On Wednesday morning, while her brother had briefly left the building to get food, the woman reportedly went to the fourth floor and jumped.
  • Current Medical Status: Doctors report that she is in critical condition with multiple life-threatening injuries, including:
    • Severe fractures to the spinal vertebrae.
    • Multiple fractures in her legs and ankles.
    • Acute internal bleeding in the abdominal region.

Emergency Response & Medical Board

LGH Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Faryad Hussain has taken immediate steps to provide specialized care:

  • 8-Member Medical Board: A high-level board, led by Prof. Dr. Jodat Saleem, has been formed to oversee her treatment.
  • Multidisciplinary Care: The team includes specialists in neurosurgery, orthopedics, and general surgery to manage her complex fractures and internal trauma.
  • Monitoring: The MS confirmed that four units of blood have been administered, and a multidisciplinary team is providing round-the-clock monitoring.

 

Administrative and Legal Action

The hospital management has officially informed the police about the incident.

  • Inquiry: While the MS stated that the patient was known to have mental health issues, an internal review may look into how the patient was able to access the ledge or balcony without supervision.
  • Family Support: Hospital staff are in contact with the patient’s brother, Asad, as the medical team utilizes “all available modern facilities” to stabilize her.
