In a major breakthrough, the Gujranwala police announced on Monday, February 16, 2026, the arrest of a suspected serial killer involved in the brutal kidnapping and murder of four individuals, including a woman and her two young children.

The suspect, identified as Haroon Javed, was apprehended by a special investigation team while attempting to flee to Karachi via train from Lahore.

The Timeline of Crimes

The arrest follows a string of violent incidents that had gripped the local community in fear:

  • December 20, 2025: The first known victim, 13-year-old Rehan Ali from Mado Khalil, was kidnapped while delivering a bridal dress for his father’s embroidery business. Haroon confessed to killing the boy solely to snatch the expensive dress.
  • February 10, 2026: Police discovered the bodies of Malaika (32) and her 5-year-old son, Muhammad Ahmed, along a canal bank near Citi Housing Society. Both had been murdered with a sharp-edged weapon.
  • The Hidden Victim: During interrogation, Haroon revealed he had also killed Malaika’s 8-month-old daughter, Mubara, through asphyxiation and thrown her body into the canal. Her body was later recovered based on the suspect’s identification.

According to CPO Dr. Ghias Gul, the primary motive behind the triple murder of the family was the snatching of gold ornaments (earrings) the woman was wearing.
