“False Flag Operation”: Tarar slams India for failing to prove Pahalgam allegations on first anniversary

ISLAMABAD (April 22, 2026) — On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam attack, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that India has completely failed to substantiate its allegations against Pakistan. Speaking in a televised address on Wednesday, Tarar characterized the incident as a “false flag operation” designed to malign Pakistan on the global stage.

The Pahalgam Incident & Aftermath

  • On April 22, 2025, an armed attack in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, killed 26 people, primarily tourists.
  • Within 48 hours, India unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
  • In May 2025, air skirmishes led to Pakistan downing seven Indian fighter jets.
  • Hostilities only paused on May 10, 2025, following high-level American diplomatic intervention.

Questions Over the “False Flag”

Minister Tarar raised several points challenging the credibility of the Indian narrative. He questioned how a First Information Report (FIR) could be registered within 10 minutes of the attack before any investigation had occurred.

“To this day, India has not presented any solid evidence or proof, nor has it offered satisfactory explanations,” Tarar asserted. He noted that India’s refusal to accept Pakistan’s offer for a neutral, transparent international probe suggests the event was a coordinated effort to justify regional aggression.

Regional Dynamics and Global Isolation

The minister criticized India for its “state policy of terrorism,” citing recent allegations of Indian involvement in transnational assassinations, including the killings of Sikh leaders in North America. He contrasted this with Pakistan’s current role as a mediator in the US-Iran peace talks.

Tarar argued that India incorrectly portrays its internal security failures as external issues while treating the international dispute of Kashmir as an internal matter.

He warned that any future “misadventure” by New Delhi would be met with a response as “firm, decisive, and swift” as the retaliation seen in May 2025.

Current Diplomatic Standing

The anniversary comes at a delicate time. While Pakistan’s airspace remains closed to Indian aircraft and the Wagah border remains shut, Islamabad is positioning itself as a “partner in peace” through the Islamabad Peace Dialogue. Tarar concluded by stating that India is facing increasing “global isolation” due to its refusal to engage in evidence-based diplomacy.
